PAS staining was performed with Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) Stain Kit (Servicebio, China), according to the manufacturer's instructions. Slides were examined by light microscope (Olympus, Japan). Mesangial matrix expansion was defined as the increased amounts of PAS‐positive material in the mesangial region and evaluated by the glomerular sclerosis index. 17 Twenty glomeruli per mouse were assessed.
