The self-rated health status was assessed by single question “In general, how would you rate your current health status?” which is recommended by the World Health Organization (1996) [48] and the European Network for the Calculation of Health Expectancies [49]. The answers include: 1 = very good, 2 = good, 3 = fair, 4 = bad, and 5 = very bad. After reverse coding, a higher score represented better health status.
