Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) lines used in this study were in the cv. M82 and cv. Moneymaker backgrounds. The hsfa1a mutants line1 and line2 were obtained from Dr.Fragkostefanakis’s lab27. Seeds were directly sown on soil and plants grown in growth chambers at 24 °C under long-day (16 h light) conditions. For heat treatment, 4-week-old plants were treated at 45 °C for 1 h and 6 h in a climatic chamber (Aralab). The fourth leaf was used for all experiments in this research.
