HUVECs (passage 2–10, no. PCS-100-010, ATCC) and human macrophages THP-1 cells (passage 4-15, no. TIB-202, ATCC) were cultured in DMEM (no. 10313039, Gibco), supplemented with 10% FBS (no.16140071, Gibco, pH = 7.0) and 1% penicillin/streptomycin (no.15140122, Gibco), within a humidified atmosphere containing 5% CO2 at a temperature of 37°C.
