FOV displacement was assessed by calculating a correlation coefficient (Supplementary Fig. 6) in MATLAB (2019b, The MathWorks, Inc., USA) using the following steps: (i) generating a reference frame by calculating the median of all individual frames, (ii) calculating a correlation coefficient between this reference frame and each individual frame, (iii) generating a new reference frame from the median of 10 frames yielding the strongest correlation coefficient in step (ii), and (iv) calculating the correlation coefficient between this new reference frame and each individual frame. Finally, motion artifacts were evaluated using the correlation coefficients obtained from these measurements and the Welch’s t test with Bonferroni correction.
