Cell culture

HT1080 human fibrosarcoma cells were purchased from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC; Wesel, Germany; cell line CCL-121) and maintained in minimal essential medium (Biowest, Nuaillé, France); containing 10% foetal bovine serum (Pan-Biotech GmbH, Aidenbach, Germany) supplemented with 1% penicillin (100 U/ml; Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA) and streptomycin (100 µg/ml; Sigma-Aldrich) as well as 1% L-glutamine (Sigma-Aldrich). The cells were grown to a sub-confluent monolayer and maintained at 37°C in a humidified atmosphere of 5% CO₂.
