Histology

Mice were deeply anesthetized by intraperitoneal injection of ketamine/xylazine (200 mg/20 mg per kg body weight) before they were transcardially perfused with PBS and 4% paraformaldehyde. Brains were dissected and additionally fixed overnight in PFA. After fixation, 100 μm coronal vibratome sections were cut, mounted, and stained with Cresyl violet to confirm recording sites. Electrode placement was confirmed for all APC unit recording mice. Placement for LFP recordings was confirmed in a subset of animals and for subsequent animals the presence of responses was used.
