The participants were recruited from Frankfurt am Main and its neighbouring areas. All participants had normal-to-corrected-to-normal vision and normal colour perception. They had no past or present psychiatric disorders, and did not take any psychoactive or hormonal medications at the time of testing by self-report. All experiments were approved by the Ethics Council of Max Planck Society. All participants gave their written informed consent and were compensated financially for their participation. A minimal sample size of 26 for each experiment was decided based on a power analysis (significance level 0.05, statistical power 0.80) of a previous paper (7) on a similar boundary-related memory effect (i.e., better TOM for within vs. across-event items).
