HEK293, SH-SY5Y, and HT22 cell lines (ATCC, Manassas, VA) were used in this study. Cells were cultured in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (Corning, USA) and 1% penicillin/streptomycin and maintained at 37 °C in a 5% CO2 incubator. Plasmid DNA was transfected using TransIT-X2 Transfection Reagent (MIR6003, MirusBio, USA) according to the manufacturer's protocol. Small interfering RNA (siRNA) was transfected with RNAi max (Invitrogen, USA) according to the manufacturer's protocol.
