The slope of the rising phase of the fEPSP was calculated as the average of the maximum slope within the first 0 to 50% of the rising phase and the five preceding and five subsequent digitized samples. Slopes from successive recordings within a 3-min window were also averaged. Slopes were expressed as a percentage of baseline (calculated as the average maximum slope of the 20-min preceding LTP induction). Data were analyzed using custom MATLAB scripts (MATLAB and Statistics-Toolbox-Release-2018b, The MathWorks) and Microsoft Excel. Significance levels are denoted in each figure, and nonsignificant differences are not indicated.
