Determination of neurotransmitter levels in the hypothalamus

The expression levels of 5-HT, 5-HIAA, NE, DA, and ACh in the hypothalamus were detected by UPLC-MS. The identification (by retention time) and purity (by peak area) of compounds in tissue samples were determined by comparing with reference materials of 1 μg/mL 5-HT, 5-HIAA, NE, DA, and ACh in water acetonitrile (8:2, V/V) (22).
