Epididymal WAT (eWAT) and liver were fixed using 10% formalin solution for 24 h, embedded into paraffin block, sliced into five-micrometer thickness, and stained for histological analysis. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining was performed according to the standard procedure. Digital images of H&E-stained tissue sections were observed with a microscope (Olympus, Tokyo, Japan) at 400X magnification and adipocyte size analysis was performed using Image J program (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA). The average adipocyte size was expressed as the average cross-sectional area per cell (1 × 102 μm2/cell).
