Adult mice aged 10–12 weeks were anesthetized, and FeCl3-induced thrombosis was measured as described previously [29]. The carotid artery was injured for 90 s with 5% FeCl3, and blood flow through the carotid artery was recorded for 30 min with a Doppler flow probe. The initial time to occlusion due to thrombus development and the stability of thrombus were plotted. Stable thrombus formation was defined as the presence of occlusive thrombus at least for 10 min after the initial occlusion.
