At the beginning of each trial, the mouse was placed on the wire-hang apparatus (37) at the −45° position of the loop, facing left. Healthy mice consistently grabbed the wire with all four paws, and walked along it, causing the wire to rotate and keeping the mouse at or near the bottom of the loop. Each mouse underwent three trials of up to 10 min each, with a minimum of 15 min of rest between successive trials. The latencies to fall were recorded and averaged across trials.
