The ergosterol binding assay was conducted to assess if the compounds bind to the fungal membrane sterols. In brief, MIC values were determined after 48 h following the guidelines of CLSI as explained above, in the absence and presence of different concentrations of ergosterol (Sigma-Aldrich, MO, USA) added to the assay medium (0, 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 μg/mL). Amphotericin B was used as a positive control. [49].
