Leaves were harvested and kept on ice in the dark or with a dim light and thylakoids were prepared as described previously (Xu, Tian, Kloz, & Croce, 2015). The isolated thylakoids were suspended in a buffer (20 mM HEPES, pH 7.5, 0.4 M sorbitol, 15 mM NaCl and 5 mM MgCl2), frozen in liquid nitrogen and kept at −80°C until usage.
