Conidia (1 × 106/ml) were incubated at 26°C in the absence (control) or in the presence of sub-inhibitory concentrations (½ × MIC and ¼ × MIC) of phendione, [Ag(phendione)2]+ or [Cu(phendione)3]2+ in RPMI medium, pH 7.0 (without agitation), in order to induce the filamentation in P. verrucosa. The fungal cells were then observed using a Carl Zeiss MicroImaging GmbH optical microscope and images obtained every 24 h (Granato et al., 2015). Conidial viability after the treatment with the test compounds was performed using the resazurin assay (Liu et al., 2007).
