After fasting, rats were administered an i.p. insulin injection (2 IU/kg). Blood samples were collected from the tail at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 min after the insulin injection for the measurement of serum glucose levels. The KITT was calculated using the equation: 0.693/half-life. Glucose half-life was calculated from the slope of the least-squares analysis of the blood glucose concentrations during the linear phase of decay.
