Nulliparous Wistar rats (8 weeks old) were treated with DEX (0.2 mg/kg/day) diluted in the drinking water from the 14th to the 19th day of pregnancy, as previously described (Gomes et al., 2014). The offspring were weaned on the 21st day of life and maintained on standard chow and water ad libitum. At 12 weeks old, the offspring were fasted for 12 h or 60 h prior to the experiments.
All studies were performed according to the guidelines of the Brazilian College for Animal Experimentation (COBEA) and were approved by the Ethics Committee on Animal Use at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
