BHK-21 cells were transfected with 1 μg each of plasmid encoding PIV5 F and HN or NDV F and HN as described above. Eighteen hours posttransfection, cells were washed with PBS+, fixed and stained using the Hema3 solution (Fisher Scientific) according to the manufacturer’s protocol, and imaged to determine syncytia formation. Images are representative of three independent experiments. Auto-contrast, tone, and brightness adjustments were applied to all images equally (batch processed) using Adobe Photoshop.
