The WGS reads were used to identify translocation events by the CREST software with the default parameters24. Further filtering criteria included (i) the supporting reads at both sites of an inter-chromosomal translocation are greater than 10% of the total reads at these positions; (ii) the sum of supporting reads at the two sites of an inter-chromosomal translocation are greater than 40. We used Fisher’s exact test to check whether the inter-chromosomal translocations identified from WGS data were enriched in the top 100 bin pairs with the highest inter-chromosomal Hi-C interactions.
