In a typical synthesis, 11 mL of an aqueous solution containing poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP, molecular weight≈55,000, 105 mg, Aldrich), l-ascorbic acid (60 mg, Aldrich), KBr (600 mg, Fisher), and sodium tetrachloropalladate (Na2PdCl4, 57 mg, Aldrich) was heated at 80 °C in air under magnetic stirring for 3 h. The nanocubes were collected by centrifugation, washed three times with deionized water, and eventually re-dispersed in 11 mL of deionized water at a concentration of 1.68 mg mL−1.
