Retina was dissected free from other ocular tissue in PBS and then incubated either in regular DMEM media or glucose-free DMEM media. Fetal calf serum was added at 10% (vol/vol) in both cases. Incubation was performed for 2 h at 37 °C and 5% CO2. Thereafter, retinae were fixed and processed for antibody staining as described.
