For growth assessment, root and shoot lengths were measured manually with a ruler. Subsequently, the samples were dried at 80 °C for 2–4 days until they achieved constant dry weight (DW) for determination. As for the pigments, chlorophyll a and b (Chl a and Chl b) and carotenoid contents were estimated in leaves using previously described methods28.
