Descriptive statistics were used to calculate the absolute and relative frequencies of the virulence genes and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles. Chi-square (χ2) and Fisher's exact test were used to evaluate the given pair of genes and to determine the association between the genes and the host species of isolation. Comparisons of gene proportions within groups of the same function were made by McNemar's test. Statistical testing was performed with SPSS software (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), and p values of <0.05 were considered statistically significant.
