To determine cell growth and survival, colony-formation assay was conducted [26]. 400 cells (per well) of transfected SW48 and control were seeded on a 6-well plate and allowed to grow for 10 days. The cell colonies were then stained with 5% crystal violet for 45 min. After that, they were washed twice with PBS and distilled water and counted. To evaluate efficiency, the ratios of the visible colonies from all seeded cells were calculated. The survival fraction was clarified by the percentage of transfected cells compared to the control.
