The tyrosinase inhibitory activity assay was accomplished using mushroom tyrosinase enzyme, as previously described by Hyun et al., 2008 [32], with minor modifications. The IC50 (concentration necessary for 50% inhibition of enzyme activity) was calculated by constructing a linear regression curve presenting compound concentrations on the x-axis and percentage inhibition on the y-axis. A negative control was obtained by adding dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) instead of the compounds. Kojic acid was used as a positive control.
