2.3.2. Encapsulation efficiency and drug loading

Encapsulation efficiency (EE%) and drug loading (DL%) of PTX in the PLHNs were measured according to the following procedures: the newly prepared PLHNs were passed through a 0.8 µm aqueous microporous membrane to remove unencapsulated PTX, which were further diluted 50-fold with acetonitrile. The mixture was centrifuged at 10 000 rpm for 10 min. A sample from the supernatant was subsequently subjected to HPLC analysis. EE% and DL% were defined as follows:
