DNA was extracted by PureLink® Genomic DNA Kit (Invitrogen, Waltham, MA, USA, cat. N. K182002) from 200 µL of whole blood, and CCL2 rs1024611 SNP genotyping was performed by TaqMan® Predesigned SNP Genotyping Assays (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA, USA) as already described [25].
