The Male Depression Risk Scale-22 (MDRS-22) [43] assesses externalizing depressive symptoms within the preceding month. It consists of 22 items with an eight-point Likert scale ranging from 0 (“not at all”) to 7 (“almost always”). The validated German version of the MDRS-22 (Guttman’s λ2 = 0.62–0.91) [18] was used in this present study. Cronbach’s α in the current study was at 0.85 for men and 0.84 for women.
