In the phosphomolybdenum (PM) assay, essential oils of different concentrations were prepared in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Five milliliters of the PM reagent (0.6 M sulfuric acid, 28 mM sodium phosphate, and 4 mM ammonium molybdate) were added to 0.5 mL of each test sample in a test tube, shaken, and then incubated at 95°C for 90 min. After the reaction mixture had cooled to room temperature, the absorbance at 695 nm was read against a blank solution. Ascorbic acid was used as a standard drug in this experiment [22].
