70S ribosomes were purified from HB8 T. thermophilus cells using the Selmer et al. purification protocol, with minor modifications to the final step. Here, zonal ultracentrifugation was replaced by three steps of 10–40% sucrose gradient preparation, ultracentrifugation, and fraction collection19.
