Virus replication of the mutant viruses was determined using a plaque assay. The plaque assay was performed as described previously15. The plaque size was analyzed using ImageQuant TL colony counting software version 8.1 (GE Healthcare, Life sciences, Eindhoven, the Netherlands). Plaque size was plotted as the radius of the plaques (in mm) and displayed using Graphpad Prism 4 (Graphpad Software, La Jolla, USA).
