Further, the synthesized liposomes were freeze-dried in order to enhance their storage stability using a lyophilizer (Wizard 2.0, Virtis, United States) (Garg et al., 2015). Initially, 5% concentration of mannitol, trehelose and sucrose were screened as the cryoprotective agents for better stabilization of liposomes. Among these, mannitol was found to be best cryoprotective agent. In the subsequent experiment, different concentrations (2.5–10%) of mannitol were used to find out the optimum value of mannitol for maximum stability of liposome in minimum concentration of mannitiol.
