Patient bone marrow smears after Wright’s staining for cell morphology. Some smears do additional cytochemistry staining, including bone marrow peroxidase (POX), non-specific esterase naphthol acetate esterase (NAE) and sodium fluoride inhibition test, periodic acid–Schiff (PAS) staining.
