Lawsone, glibenclamide, streptozotocin (STZ), nicotinamide, cholesterol, and fructose were obtained from Sigma-Aldrich Chemie GmbH, Steinheim, Germany. LME was semi-synthesized by methylating lawsone using a method previously reported [20]. All the other chemicals and reagents were preferably of analytical grade.
