Chick embryos were harvested and fixed in 4% buffered formalin prior to paraffin embedding, 3-μm sectioning, and staining with hematoxylin, phloxine and saffron (HPS) according to a standard protocol. Images were captured on Zweiss Z1 Axio-observer Microscope.
