The sum-score of the Somatic-Symptom Scale-8 (SSS-8) (Gierk et al., 2014) which evaluates impairments due to somatic complaints on a 5-point Likert scale in the last week was included. The SSS-8 has been shown to have good reliability as well as construct and factor validity (Gierk et al., 2014). Finally, one item assessing the frequency of suicidal thoughts and one item assessing the frequency of self-injury on a 3-point scale (‘never’, ‘sometimes’, ‘often’) in the last 6 months from the Child Behaviour Checklist (CBCL) (Achenbach, 1991) were included.
