Initial screening revealed 169 patients, of whom 13 were excluded for the reason of not meeting the inclusion criteria or due to the presence of a mimicking disease and 156 patients were included in the study (96 [61.5%] were men, and 60 [38.5%] were women). Demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients with GBS are shown in Table Table1.1. The median age was 38 (IQR 26.25–53.5) years. Approximately, half of the patients (51.9%) were aged 18–39 years (57 men, 24 women), 29.5% were aged 40–59 years (24 men, 22 women), and 18.6% were aged ≥ 60 years (15 men, 14 women).
