Isolated hearts were divided in to two portions for the preparation of homogenates: 10% (w/v) homogenate in potassium chloride (0.15 M) and 10% (w/v) homogenate in 0.25% (w/v) sucrose in phosphate buffer (5 M pH 7.4). Both homogenates were centrifuged at 8000x g for 10 minutes. The supernatant from the first homogenate was used for the estimation of MDA, and the supernatant from the second homogenate was used for the estimation of SOD and GSH.13 All estimations were conducted according to the manufacturer’s manual of reagents by Accurex biomedical Pvt. Ltd., India.
