Mice were individually kept in metabolic cages at 4°C under a 12 h light:12h darkness cycle, starting at 08:00 h. After 24 h of acclimation, the oxygen consumption rate (VO2), carbon dioxide production rate (VCO2), and physical activity were measured using Comprehensive Lab Animal Monitoring System (CLAMS) for the next 24 h, and each cage was monitored at a 15 min interval.
