Arterial blood was collected to calculate the PaO2/FiO2 at baseline and at 24 h after endotoxin instillation. Peripheral blood was collected at the same time points to detect cytokine levels. The heart and lungs were collected after animal sacrifice. The right trachea was blocked with a vascular clamp, and 10 mL/kg saline was injected into the left lung tissue. After five washes of the saline, we collected the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF). Blood samples and BALF were centrifuged at 1,000 × g at 4°C for 15 min. The supernatants were collected and stored at -80°C for subsequent analyses.
