We carried out statistical analyses with version 16.0 of the IBM SPSS Statistics software (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Each continuous variable in this study was expressed in terms of mean±standard deviation (SD). To estimate between-group differences, the Student`s t-test, as well as the Tukey-Kremer procedure was applied. The central comparison was the group (pulsatile versus non-pulsatile), based on the assumption that between-group alterations in hemodynamics and cytokines were similar. To compare between-group differences over time, the multiple linear regression model was used, with repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) applied to manage these data, which were cytokine levels at different time-points in different groups. Each hypothesis in this study was two-sided and p-values below 0.05 were deemed as a level of statistical significance.
