This prospective, randomized controlled study with parallel design was conducted at the Faculdade de Educação Física e Esporte of Universidade de São Paulo, between February 2012 and March 2015. Patients with PD were randomly allocated to one of two groups: Control Group (CG) or Resistance Training Group (RTG), as previously described.(,14)

Physiological responses during maximal cardiopulmonary exercise testing were assessed at baseline (beginning of the study) and at 12 weeks. In the RTG, post-intervention assessments were carried out at least 48 hours after the last training session. Patients were assessed in the “on” state (i.e., action phase of medication).
