COMSOL (ver. 5.4) commercial software was used to study the release mechanism of the biosensors. Two-dimensional finite-element analysis was used to calculate the flow density of the biosensor (fig. S3, D and E). To simplify the analysis, the sensor was modeled using two domains. Boundary conditions corresponding to pressure were applied on the top of the reservoir. The dynamic viscosity (ν) and density (ρ) of saline solution are as follows: νsaline solution = 1000 Pa·s and ρsaline solution = 1.0 kg/m3.
