The liver and lung tissues were fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde (BOSTER, Wuhan, Hubei, China) for 2 d at ambient temperature, dehydrated in a graded series of alcohols, washed in xylene, and paraffin-embedded. A rotating microscope knife was used to cut the paraffin block into 4-μm sections. Sections were de-paraffinized and stained with HE. Stained tissue sections were examined using an optical microscope (Olympus).
