The majority (98.19%) of the inhabitants of the Yilmana Densa district practiced Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity. Most of the population lives in rural areas, whereas the least number from the population inhabit urban areas. 99.9% of the district's inhabitants are composed of Amhara people, and Amharic is spoken as the first language by 99.96% [11].
