The baseline characteristics were expressed as mean ± SD or median with interquartile range, where appropriate. Categorical variable differences were tested using the χ2 test or Fisher exact test and continuous variables using the Student t test or Mann-Whitney U test. Multiple testing correction was performed for the baseline characteristics using Bonferroni method. The overall discriminatory performance of the DNN, baseline and updated models were assessed in the test set with the concordance-statistic (c-statistic) or area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, sensitivities, specificities, positive, and negative predictive values. The models were compared at a prespecified specificity of 94%. The 95% CI around the performance measures and odds ratios were obtained using 2000 bootstrap samples. All statistical analyses were performed using R version 3.5 (R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria).
