This long-term retrospective cohort study included all chronic ambulatory dialysis patients between January 2014 and December 2016 in the main dialysis facilities under the umbrella of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in the State of Qatar, including Fahd bin Jassim Kidney Center, which is the main and largest dialysis center in the State of Qatar, and three other satellite units (Al-Wakra, Al-Shahaniyah, and Al-Shamal units). The total number of dialysis patients in this cohort was 1080 (hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients). The study protocol was approved by the Clinical Research Ethics Committee of HMC with IRB number 16319/16.
