The ovarian cancer cell lines SKOV3 and A2780 were purchased from the ATCC and cultured respectively in RPMI 1640 (Gibco) medium and Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM, Gibco) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS, Gibco), 1 U/ml of penicillin (Gibco), and 1 mg/ml of streptomycin (Gibco). Cells were maintained at 37°C under a humidified atmosphere of 5% carbon dioxide. The cell passage was restricted within 30 generations. To measure the proliferation rate, the cells were seeded on a 96-well plate at 5.0 × 103 cells per well and exposed to different conditions. At the indicated time points, the cell viability was determined by MTS assays (CellTiter 96® AQueous One Solution Cell Proliferation Assay, cat#: G3581, Promega, USA).
